Cornelian cherry

In the majority of cases, Cornelian cherry is a shrub growing up to several meters tall. This shrub grows pretty slowly and has attractive elongated leaves. It blooms very early with attractive flowers. It produces fruits every year (its flowers do not freeze). It is a long-living plant. Plants are practically free from diseases and pests. It is characterized by a good resistance to frost. It prefers chalky soils and sunny areas.

Cornelian cherry was well-known even in medieval Europe. It is considered to be not only a fruit plant, but also a medicinal and decorative plant. Currently fruits of this valuable variety are gaining more popularity which is facilitated by the appearance of new valuable fruit varieties. Fruit varieties produce sweet and sour fruits weighting from 5 to 11 g.

Interesting fact: valuable oil can be extracted from cherry kernels.
