Common medlar

It is one of the oldest known cultivated plants. It has been cultivated since antiquity. This variety is a shrub or a small tree growing up to 3-5 m tall. It has a spreading structure and grows slowly. It produces attractive leaves and large white flowers and fruits of a unique shape. The plant blooms in May/June. It bears fruits regularly and produces round fruits weighting 20-30 grams. Fruits can be eaten raw, but only in late autumn. Most often, fruits become edible only after they are frozen and stored. They taste like marmalade.
