Red fruits used by kids to make necklaces…However, it turns out that currently these fruits are used not only for this purpose. Special fruit varieties have been selected.

Most often, these plants are trees growing up to several feet tall. They have attractive, large, compound leaves. The trees bloom in May/June with white flowers.

Fruits have a diameter of around 1 cm and are oval: they can be red, yellow, white, navy blue or brown! This variety is strongly resistant to frost. It prefers sunny places (however, it tolerates light shade), is able to grow in poor soils, but grows better in fertile ones.

Fruit varieties can be eaten raw, however their taste is not sensational. Their bitterness is noticeable. Nonetheless, these are very interesting, valuable fruits for making preserves.
