Currants

Shrubs grow from 1 to 2 m tall. Plants are resistant to low temperatures during winter. They bloom early and their flowers may freeze. They prefer clayey soils, very dry soil is not recommended for good production. The plants grow better in sunny places. Fruits of red, white and black currants can be consumed directly. There are many new dessert varieties with an excellent taste. Fruits are often used for making preserves. They are rich in vitamin C (especially black currant).
